User Experience Reviews for Sites and Apps
A usable, friendly, and fast app or web site keeps users happy. Designing for usability is part art, part science. As a User Experience Consultant, I am happy to provide actionable suggestions to product teams that you can implement with your team.
I am also available for longer-term consulting projects. To be able to do justice to all projects, I may not always be able to take on new clients, though. Please email me if you’re interested.
Get your app or site reviewed. Bring your design questions.
I have a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction, and have prototyped, built and launched several successful products at Google. I’ll review your site or app with an eye towards:
-
Information Architecture
Is the information on your site / in your app well-organized from the point of view of a user? Or does it reflect org chart boundaries?
-
Navigation
Is it straightforward to navigate around the site/app? If users already know what they want, can they get to it quickly?
-
Optimal Task Flows
Does your app/site make it as efficient as possible for the user to achieve his/her goals?
-
Accessibility & Responsiveness
Can everyone use your site/app well: people with different abilities, of different education levels, using all screen sizes from phones to large monitors, using a mouse/keyboard or a touch device?
-
Performance
Does your site load quickly? Are there any quick optimization steps you can take within a few hours that would make it load instantaneously?
How we’ll work
- You’ll email me a URL to your site, or a link to your mocks / prototypes or app. To make the best use of our 1:1 time, please send me your materials (or links) at least 24 hours prior.
- I’ll review the site (by myself), take notes, and share a report with you.
- Optional: We can do a video call where I discuss my findings with you, and answer any questions you may have.
- Feel free to show me your new metrics after you implement my suggestions. (I love this part!)
Contact me via email to get started.
What’s not included (and why)
I will not be able to discuss search-engine optimization strategies, social media sharing, or other ways to bring traffic to your site. Because of my employment with Google, this creates a direct conflict of interest for me. Sorry about that.
